thursday nothings {and a flashback}

some...most...okay, every day i feel as though i am channeling cinderella.
fold the laundry...
do the dishes...
make me something to eat...
feed the animals...
sew this...
glue that...
i need...
i want...

after dinner (who am i kidding, after every meal)
i have to get down on hands and knees
and scrub the floor underneath monkey.

and every single time i do,
this is what he does....
 my sweet prince charming...

a fellow blogger, inspirer, crafter, mother, extraordinaire, meg (at whatever) has this great idea to dig into her archives and post pictures from the past year and reminisce.

so here is a recap from february 2010

my sweet baby was just as stinking cute as he is today.
we enjoyed the superbowl with our besties, Erica and Alden!
we decorated valentine cookies
(kind of a new tradition)
papa and grandma came to town from nevada and we went bowling
in true when-papa-and-grandma-visit fashion.
peanut was going through his "i want to be a cowboy" phase
and rocked it by the way (he is stinking cute!)
monkey became less of a blob baby...
and these 2 started to fall in love with eachother.
little bear soaked up any "daddy" time he could get
with a baby in the house.
and we went to klamath for a weekend visit with our
favorite little smith family!

 w.o.w. that was fun
thanks for the idea, meg!

i have nothing today.
it's snowing and cold (real cold) outside.
i talked hubby into taking little bear to therapy this afternoon.
it's my neighbor's car pool day so i don't have to get peanut from school.
i'm going to stay in my sweats today.
hair in a pony
no makeup.
and find someone to finish this damn laundry. (seriously already)
little bear has homework he has to finish for school tomorrow
i was thinking of having us make suns for crafts today and hang them up
all over the house. (if you will it, it will happen, right?)
maybe finish just one magazine.
and catch up on some long overdue DVR time.

just maybe...

have a wonderful winter thursday friends!

wednesday randomness {and a weekend recap}

what a great 3-day weekend we got to have together.
as a family.
just staying at home.
my grandmother (nana to the boys),
and uncle mike came up from redding for a quick "pop over" and a delicious meatloaf muffin dinner (courtesy of your's truly!)
on their way to up to salem.
it was so much fun to visit with them for the evening.
it has been years since we have seen uncle mike...about 5 I think?
(i love the look on hubby and peanut's faces.
like father, like son.)
for some reason, it is a terrible tradition in my family
to come to my house for dinner,
and then after dinner...
pack up my children and run them down to the grocery store
where they are able to pick out whatever junk food they want.
(horrible tradition that must be stopped)
the boys decided on sherbert ice cream and waffle cones.
courtesy of uncle michael!
 aren't these 2 absolutely adorable!

(on a side note...)
please stop calling my name from the pantry.
yes...you make me feel all "betty crocker" -like as i mix you in my kitchenaid
yes...rolling and cutting you out brings back childhood memories
just like grandma used to do it.
and yes...i am honing in on my mad martha stewart decorating skills.
 however, you have to understand
you are supposed to be for the kids.
they are the ones that truly enjoy you for all you are worth
my "pre-baby" jeans and i have just recently gotten reacquainted.
and i have a feeling that deep down,
they love me more than you.

in the words of achmed...
"silence! i kill you!"

yours truly,
the management
the weekend came and mother nature blessed us with a bit more sunshine
before this next storm system rolls in. and they're calling for more snow!
We were able to run to medford to spend some christmas gift cards.
list in hand, we got all that was needed to finish our garden project.
again, by the time we finished our project on Monday evening
the sun was going down
so no pictures yet of our garden boxes and new fire pit.
it has a certain "ahh" factor when the sun is shining in the background.
this little beauty is blooming right in my very own backyard
isn't she stunning, just one little angle with room to grow.
little bear has therapy tomorrow.
friday will be here before we know it.
saturday i have one last baseball sign-ups
and saturday night
i might get a girls night.....
..wait, i don't want to jinkx it.
scratch that.
you never saw it.
happy "middle of the week" day to you!

February 17, 2011

comfort. and. joy.

february has been an exceptionally beautiful month thus far.
windows opened during the day.
heater doesn't seem to kick on anymore.
a nice breeze flowing through the house
erasing all the stuffiness that winter brings.
in one word....surreal.
just when we thought it was safe to put our coats in the closet.
old man winter decided to pop over for a visit.
a small reminder that in order to have a beautiful spring
we need to have a cold and wet winter first.
the heater has been running.
and running....
...and running.
fuzzy slippers kept our piggy's warm
and snuggle blankets gave us giant hugs.
chicken alfredo and freshly baked rolls filled the house with comfort.
kids played in the garage playroom
while unread magazines and DVR begged me to spend time with them.
(who can say no to that?)
spring is coming
and we are counting down the days...
but today...
we enjoy a snow day
and at about 960 feet elevation...
it doesn't come that often.

what's comforting you today?

happy thursday!
